A Primary School leavers' mug becomes the symbol of a student's identity as she struggles to reconcile academic pressure from her mother with her own artistic ambitions.
Funded by Chapter Arts Centre and the BFI Film Academy, Best Student is Rebs Fisher-Jackson's first funded microshort. Over 75% of crew come from under-represented groups (women, identifying as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, or neurodivergent/disabled).
Best Student was shot entirely in South Wales, with filming taking place in Cardiff and Bridgend in June 2022.
